How long have you been in business?
Our company president has been working in the custom and decorative entryway industry since 1981, with both wood and glass. Our chief installer, who is a Master Carpenter, has been involved in all aspects of construction since 1975.

What's the best way to use the online catalog?
Browse the different categories. We have soooo many different types of doors and glass. Decide first whether you think you might want a solid door or doors, or if you want glass in the door. Any sidelites or transom? Just give us an idea of some of the different things you like, and we can "layout" a bunch of different ideas for you so you can see the complete look! We can mail or email these layouts to you. If you're from our area of Virginia, we can come to your home and take a look at the specific area or house plans and show you how the different ideas will look on your specific home by using a digital picture of your house or the front elevation from your house plans if you're building.

We're building a home. What's available for us?
For new home construction, we offer a complete pre-hung door unit. This means that your builder simply nails it in place and it's done! Everything is pre-hung in our shop. Our door units feature solid wood jambs, ball bearing solid brass hinges, fully weatherstripped with Q-Lon compression weatherstripping, upgraded bronze & oak thresholds, and more!

We have an existing home. What's available for us?
We can give your home an entire new look! We can cut a hole in your door and install our glass -- even metal and fiberglass doors! We can also remove the existing door and sidelites and install a new door and sidelites while utilizing the existing frame. Many times, the existing sidelite is actually a wood sidelite which holds a smaller glass panel. We can remove this and install a new glass which is the full width, usually 12"! It's amazing how much more light you get and how the entryway and foyer looks larger. Of course, we can also remove the existing door unit and install a new door unit. This is done when you may have existing double doors, but wish you had a single door with sidelites.

One of our designers will meet with you; we have color pictures, catalogs, and great ideas and suggestions! But, the layouts help tremendously and give you a great idea of what looks good.
Remember, we can very easily combine any of the door styles with our Beveled Glass Designs.

It's hard to give one set price, because it depends whether we're pre-hanging a door system for new home construction or installing it into an existing home. All of our layouts that we prepare for customers contain prices. We're working on trying to give customers who are simply browsing an idea of prices. Do you have a showroom?

We are considering a showroom in Williamsburg, but frankly most customers in the area prefer to have us meet with them personally at their home or jobsite.

We love the clear beveled glass but want privacy.
All of our Beveled Glass Designs, as well as the Beveled Series are available in either clear beveled glass or beveled glue-chip glass for privacy. Beveled Glue-Chip glass is best described as a surface that looks like ice on a morning window, yet with a clear beveled edge.
Our Expo Series features glass specifically with privacy in mind, combining beveled, beveled glue-chip, and textured glass for a beautiful combination that affords privacy!

What about bathroom windows or other uses for the beveled glass panels?
Any of our Beveled Glass Designs can be used for bathroom, fixed, or other operative windows. We offer custom designs, and can design and adapt our glass for virtually any application! And, we have done some big and "unique" applications over the last 20 years!

We have shipped our glass all over the country and to Canada. We expertly package and crate your order which is shipped fully insured.

Do you install?
Yes! We have a certified Master Carpenter on call, and can handle any job or project. Our installers can deal with any hidden or unexpected problem to insure that your door works as beautifully as it looks.
We install all door hardware as necessary, including specialty hardware, multi-point locks, and mortise locks.
Of course, we're fully licensed and insured.

Just how safe is the glass?
We've never had, to our knowledge, one of our door units as the source of a break-in. The glass is extremely difficult to break, as it's triple-glazed insulated glass. This means that the beveled glass panel is sealed between 2 pieces of tempered safety glass!

What about energy efficiency? Is the glass air-tight?
Our glass is all triple-glazed insulated glass units. Each beveled glass panel is sealed between 2 pieces of tempered safety glass to form a triple-glazed IG unit.
For extreme exposures and conditions, we offer Low-E reflective glass.
Our door units all use special oak & bronze threshold systems for air-tight seals. The jamb systems feature a built-in compression Q-Lon weatherstripping for air-tight seals.

Do you paint or stain the doors?
Generally, our doors come un-finished. We can, if required, pre-finish doors and door systems. Please call for details.
